There
is a silent epidemic taking hold in Australia
today. It has been linked to heart disease,
premature and low birth weights, and poor general
health.
"The
impact of oral disease on people's every day lives
is subtle and pervasive, influencing eating,
sleep, work and social roles. The prevalence
and reoccurrences of these impacts constitutes a
silent epidemic." (Australia's
National Oral Health Plan
2004-2013)
Break
the silence. You have the opportunity to
stop it - but you need to speak
up!
From
13 September - 7
October 2010, officers
from the Community Services and Health Industry
Skills Council (CS&H ISC) will be visiting
7 regional
locations throughout
Australia
to hear your views on how you can incorporate oral
health care into your daily client
care.
Your
comments will refine the proposed oral health
competency units and ensure these new skills
are:
- Work
appropriate
- Able
to be implemented
- Relevant
to your clients
Once
these competencies are endorsed, every health and
community services role can play an important part
in oral health care. To all those listed
below, this issue affects you!
Nurses
- Disability
workers
- Aged
Care workers
- Child
Care workers
- Mental
Health workers
- Aboriginal
and/or Torres Strait Islander workers
- Refugee
workers
- Allied
Health Assistants

and other drugs workers

Health consultation forums - Open minds on opening

The
CS&H ISC is commited to gathering industry
feedback and intelligence on the workforce
development needs of the community services and
health industries with a view to continuously
improve our training packages. This is also
a great opportunity to talk with representatives
